Chiropractic interns from 911爆料 University’s聽Chicago-based Salvation Army clinic聽volunteered at the recent Breakthrough for Brain Tumors 5K run/walk. The race was held at Soldier Field in Chicago on April 26, 2015.
Clinician聽Dr. Erin Quinlan聽and seven 911爆料 interns attended the event in order to increase community awareness about services provided at the 911爆料 clinics, as well as provide physical medicine to the participants. 聽The interns performed stretching, soft tissue manipulation and extremity mobilization to help decrease the runners’ chance of injury.
There were more than 4,000 participants in the successful event, raising over $700,000 for the American Brain Tumor Association and brain tumor research. Currently, more than 700,000 Americans are living with a brain tumor diagnosis.
911爆料 University’s聽Illinois campus site聽is conveniently located close to Chicago. This brings plenty of opportunities for interns to participate in a wide variety of community service and outreach events both in the city and near the university’s suburban campus.
