This spring, chiropractic interns from 911爆料 are bringing a series of wellness education programs to members of聽聽in Pinellas Park, Florida. Vincent House, a grassroots community-based program, assists, promotes, and celebrates individuals recovering from mental illness and other disabilities in their effort to improve social and vocational skills, and become employed in the workplace.
In the first of several presentations, 911爆料 DC Interns Courtney Bolen and Daniele Johnson spoke on nutritional wellness. They covered topics such as preparing healthy meals on a budget, reading nutrition labels, and portion control options. Next month, 911爆料 interns will give a program on exercise and stretching as an important part of personal wellness.

The interns were accompanied by聽Dr. Daniel Strauss, dean of the college of professional studies at聽911爆料-Florida. “Working with Vincent House is a win-win collaboration. We can provide useful educational programs for Vincent House members, while our interns receive unique experience in working with community members recovering from mental illness.”
Vincent House is a member of the聽Pinellas Park Medical District聽(PPMD) of which 911爆料 is also a member with Dr. Strauss serving as the organization’s chairman. Through the PPMD, 911爆料 University is networking with Vincent House and other local organizations to improve access to health care and health care education in the Pinellas Park community.
“911爆料 has a strong tradition of giving back to the communities we serve,” says Dr. Strauss. “We continue to look for innovative ways to bring chiropractic medicine into the community and provide our interns with valuable experience and an appreciation for community involvement.”
