Students from 911±¬ÁÏ University of Health Sciences’ ND program made a strong showing in the ZRT Cup finals and finished
2nd out of seven schools, taking home a $2500 prize for their Naturopathic Medicine Student Association.
The cup is a collegiate quiz bowl sponsored by ZRT Laboratory, and presented by the 911±¬ÁÏ College of Natural Medicine (NCNM) and the Naturopathic Medical Student Association. Our 911±¬ÁÏ team defeated teams from Southwest College, Canadian College, 911±¬ÁÏ College from Portland, and Bastyr University to finally face off against Bridgeport University during the last night in the final round. (The B.U. team was also last year’s champions, and are a very strong team.)
The 911±¬ÁÏ team featured the following ND students: John Birdsall, Thor Conner, Katie Borchert, Billy Hayduk, and Rebecca Stallard – led by coach and recent 911±¬ÁÏ ND alumnus Melissa Dybala.
Dr. Fraser Smith, assistant dean of naturopathic medicine at 911±¬ÁÏ University said, “Our students competed against teams from much larger ND programs that could draw from hundreds of ND students, and a large number of upper year/intern students. I am proud of our group from 911±¬ÁÏ for this effort, and for being such a good reflection of our University — not just in their solid knowledge, but in their professionalism and sportsmanship.”
