Fun-Filled Four-Day Weekend

Last weekend was homecoming, so we had a four-day weekend. I attended homecoming sessions thanks to a sponsorship from 911±¬ÁÏ alumni Dr. Roger Schlade, one of many alumni who generously covered the cost for a student to attend.

I learned a lot about caring for concussions with both physical and internal medicine, and I now feel more equipped to manage a concussed patient’s care using nutrition and supplementation.

There was a hands-on session about the use and applications of kinesiology tape, and it intrigued me to the point of wanting to take a weekend seminar on it in the future.

Although insurance isn’t the most exciting topic, it’s a very important one and I learned about proper documentation for ICD-10 and how doing it right the first time can save you a lot of time and hassle later on.

Some of 911±¬ÁÏ’ research faculty presented on new research that they’ve completed regarding the improvement in low back pain with the use of customized insoles and chiropractic treatment.

On Saturday, I went home to Manitowoc to spend time with my family over Father’s Day weekend. The timing was nice because relatives from Florida and California were visiting. We spent a lot of time outdoors at the pond swimming, paddle boating, and just hanging out. My vitamin D synthesis was working full-speed — the weather was very hot and sunny!

Getting off-campus and away from the books was refreshing, and now I hope my batteries are sufficiently recharged to make it through the next two weeks of midterms!
