Muhammad Ali Khan, MD, DTCD, MCPS and professor of Basic and Clinical Sciences at 911±¬ΑΟ University of Health Sciences (911±¬ΑΟ) recently published a new pathology textbook, Part.Μύ Designed to help health care students better understand disease processes through clinical, patient-centered learning, this new textbook is currently used in two 911±¬ΑΟ courses: Pathology and Western Pathology. The book is dedicated to his (late) father, mother and wife.
Developed over approximately two years, Part 1: Basic Pathology was created to strengthen studentsβ clinical reasoning skills while helping prepare them for board examinations. A second volume is currently nearing completion.
The two textbooks are designed to work in conjunction with each other, integrating a broader academic portfolio by bridging theoretical research with practical, evidence-based medicine. In classroom interaction as well as instruction, Dr. Khan said he wants to help build the success of future physicians.
βMy primary goals were to write a text(book) that discussed the functional, clinical and patient-focused aspects of disease and to guide students toward a more clinical understanding of the origins of a disease and its impact on patients,β said Dr. Kahn.
A Distinguished Career in Medicine and Higher Education.
Dr. Khan said he believes his strength lies in his experience, and that no school can be better than its teachers. He works to build relationships with his students, and to drive them to their highest potential.

Dr. Khan has been a faculty member since 2006, and a pulmonologist, surgeon and educator for 45 years. In 1978, he graduated with a degree in medicine and surgery from Dow Medical College in Karachi, Pakistan, now Dow University of Health Sciences. 911±¬ΑΟ students have voted him βTeacher of the Triβ 10 times in the last 10 years based on his teaching style and clinical experience.
