Federal Work Study Progam
Federal Work Study (FWS) is a need-based federal financial aid program that helps to subsidize student wages in on-campus jobs. FWS earnings are excluded from adjusted gross income on the following year鈥檚 FAFSA, so it is advantageous for a student to have FWS earnings versus regular non-FWS earnings.
Students are urged to check directly with departments in which they would like to work. Before a department hires a student via the FWS program, the student should check with the Office of Financial Aid to verify the student鈥檚 FWS eligibility.
If the student qualifies for FWS, a 鈥淪tudent Employment Voucher鈥� is prepared for the student to take back to the hiring department for signature. The student then returns to the Office of Financial Aid with the signed 鈥淪tudent Employment Voucher鈥� and completes all other employment forms.
