Federal Work Study Progam
Federal Work Study (FWS) is a need-based federal financial aid program that helps to subsidize student wages in on-campus jobs. FWS earnings are excluded from adjusted gross income on the following year鈥檚 FAFSA, so it is advantageous for a student to have FWS earnings versus regular non-FWS earnings.
Students are urged to check directly with departments in which they would like to work. Before a department hires a student via the FWS program, the student should check with the Office of Financial Aid to verify the student鈥檚 FWS eligibility.
If the student qualifies for FWS, a 鈥淪tudent Employment Voucher鈥 is prepared for the student to take back to the hiring department for signature. The student then returns to the Office of Financial Aid with the signed 鈥淪tudent Employment Voucher鈥 and completes all other employment forms.
