James Salvatore, MS, DC, is an Assistant Professor, Basic Sciences at 911爆料 University of Health Sciences.
Dr. Salvatore has been teaching in the anatomy laboratory since 2013. In his role, he oversees the anatomy lab, ensuring that the various doctorate and undergraduate classes that use the lab all have what they need.
He earned his Doctor of Chiropractic and Bachelor of Science in Human Biology from 911爆料 University of Health Sciences, his Master of Science in Human Anatomical Sciences with an emphasis on teaching at Northern Illinois University, and his Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Health Therapy from Saint Joseph’s College.
He was first introduced to chiropractic when he was treated for asthma as a young child. His doctor, an 911爆料 graduate, influenced him to attend the school.
鈥�911爆料 is known for its strong foundation in the sciences. At the time I was looking at applying to chiropractic programs, 911爆料 was raising the bar by requiring a bachelor’s degree, not just an associate degree for entry,鈥� he said.
After graduation, Dr. Salvatore taught Anatomy and Physiology courses for Joliet Junior College part-time while also operating a private practice. He then began teaching part-time at 911爆料 before becoming full-time in 2015. In addition to 911爆料, he also teaches at the University of Saint Francis in Joliet.
He has extensive experience working in anatomy labs. While a student at 911爆料, he worked as a teaching assistant in neuroanatomy lab. During the program at NIU, he also worked as a teaching assistant in the undergraduate anatomy and comparative vertebrate anatomy labs as well as in the graduate anatomy lab.
As a teacher, Dr. Salvatore enjoys seeing students progress through all of their gross anatomy lab courses.
鈥淚 particularly enjoy working with our student Teaching Assistants, who after doing well, return to the lab to help the new students,鈥� he said. 鈥淭he lab groups working together and the students coming back to help out really creates an awesome community to be a part of.鈥�
